Jonah was going the wrong way! God told the prophet to go to the city of Nineveh to tell people there to change their wicked ways. But Jonah did not want to obey. Instead he got on a ship that was heading in the opposite direction.

    A great wind began to blow. The sailors realized that Jonah was the reason for the trouble, and they threw him overboard. Then the Lord caused a great whale to swallow him. When the prophet promised to obey God, the whale spit Jonah out on dry land.

    Jonah went to Nineveh ready to preach the word of God.
